Best of all, it is the ultimate downturn theme: ‘look, we didn’t spend a thing!’ and it has some synergy with another current trend for handcrafted and vintage ‘homespun’ interiors. Simple ideas include: building a bar from beer/champagne or other drinks crates, using jam jars and other discarded glassware to hold candles, stringing together old CD’s, vinyl record and computer discs to make a chandelier, using solar powered lighting and technology.
